The Bad News - Pay Up!

Prices effective 10/01/2014

Existing clients may always renew at their current rate

The Firefighter Calendar is commercial softare; it is NOT public domain. New users are granted a trial period to test program features, after which they are expected either to pay the license fee or to remove the program from their computers with no further obligation.

Use of this program in a derivative work or for commercial distribution of calendars is prohibited except as provided under specific licensing agreement.

Exception: a licensed user may post images of calendars on a public or private web site if a link to our site is provided.

For licensing purposes, we recognize three classes of users:

Personal Use - an individual, private user (now accepting PayPal)
Agency Use - a Fire Service or non-profit agency
Business Use - a for-profit business enterprise

Personal Use

The license fee for a New User ("personal use") is twenty dollars ($20); this license is valid for one year.

Renewals (after the initial one-year term) are ten dollars ($10) per year.

Note: Existing clients may always renew at their current rate.

Why does the initial license cost more?

The initial fee covers our overhead in creating a new licensee, database maintenance, generating and transmitting a unique validation code, assisting new users in setting up their shift schedules, and providing technical support.

We gladly provide support to all of our licensed users (and to non-licensed users on a time-available basis). We spend a substantial portion of our non-programming hours helping new users set up their shift schedules. Whenever we encounter an unusual shift schedule, we make a point of posting it to the web site for the convenience of other users.

The real reason: we want you to renew.

Why do I have to pay a license fee every year?

We're in business to make money
(not that we're doing a very good job of it...).

What do I get for paying the license fee?

Payment of the fee grants the user license to install the program on all computers owned by the user (as an individual), to access all program features, and to print unlimited calendars during the term of the license for non-commercial personal use or distribution.

We maintain a fairly liberal "personal use" policy: the individual user may print calendars for himself/herself, family, friends, and (yes, even) crew members.

Printing calendars for the whole platoon (or, needless to say, for the whole department) does not fall into the "personal use" category (let them pay their own license fee!).

A "Personal Use" license may be purchased via PayPal.
